svn attempt to write a readonly database

After creating a new repository other developers in my group couldn't commit to svn.  They got the error "attempt to write a readonly database".  I thought I set up the directory to create new files with a r+w group permissions, but I guess not.  The file /svn/repopath/db/rep-cache.db did not have group write permissions.  After changing this, others could commit to the database.
